Solace In Sound

--

When it’s too noisy in my head for words
I instead take solace in sound,
in bird-whistle flutes and cascading strings
that pluck me out of this place and time,
whisk me away to wolf-roamed woods
or plunge me into selkie-swum waters
where modern worries cannot penetrate,
and my only job is to be.
