The Distant Stars of Kindred Spirits

Those people are not real to me,
the masses with whom I am
forced to share this particular
slice of space and time,
most are just shadows drifting
on the peripheries of my life,
incapable of altering or shaping it,
pale ghosts who cease to exist
the moment they leave my sight.
