Together In Recurring Dreams

I wonder who lives there now,
in that flat I haven’t set foot in for the best part of ten years,
I wonder what they’ve done with the place,
how long it took for the last traces of her cigarette smoke to fade,
if they ever spare a thought for the old lady who lived on her own,
and if they have any concept of what she meant to me.
